The 1985 MHSI Ilesa Set graduated from Methodist High School, Ilesa, in 1985. In 2017, members reconnected and formally organized through a WhatsApp group, intentionally searching for and reuniting classmates across the globe.
Before embarking on major infrastructure projects, the group was actively involved in humanitarian initiatives, providing support to classmates in need and contributing to the overall welfare of the school community.
In 2018, the group’s president, Dr. Peter Ojo, initiated a personal legacy project—the Astronomy Laboratory—which remains ongoing and continues to benefit the school.
In 2020, internal political challenges led to a temporary split within the group and the president’s formal resignation. Despite this setback, a new platform, MHSI 1985 UNITY, emerged and successfully executed its first collective building project: the refurbishment of classrooms, equipped with state-of-the-art chairs, fans, electricity, and other essential amenities.
Throughout this period, Dr. Ojo sustained his humanitarian commitments, continuing to support the school whenever called upon.
The group reunited in 2022, and this renewed unity was followed by preparations for the 40th anniversary celebration, alongside another landmark project to commemorate the milestone.
To crown these collective efforts, the leadership proposed an anniversary legacy project aimed at fully reuniting all members and making a symbolic, lasting contribution. This vision culminated in the construction of an additional eight toilet units and a water supply system, addressing a critical need at a time when the school had no functional toilet facilities.
Today, the 1985 MHSI Ilesa Set includes members across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and beyond, united by a shared commitment to service, legacy, and giving back to their alma mater.

What began as a social reconnection quickly evolved into a purpose-driven alumni movement. The reunion in 2022 marked a turning point, restoring unity and shared purpose. This renewed cohesion paved the way for further legacy projects and preparations for the 40th anniversary celebration, reinforcing the group’s enduring bond with their alma mater.
